Global Maritime Group (GMG) has launched a geosciences business line, which will be led by Gareth Ellery, who joins GMG from a director role at Cathie, part of DEME Group.

GMG provides geotechnical, geophysical and GIS services, typically in collaboration with industry partners and the new business line will enable GMG to offer an integrated service that will enable the company to provide “additional added value and a wider range of high-quality technical services” throughout the project lifecycle across geospatial, geophysical, geological, and geotechnical disciplines.

The business line will offer geohazard analysis, survey consultancy, ground modelling, installation and design geotechnics and subsea cable engineering, in addition to the services already provided for the site approval of jack-up installation vessels and mobile units.

Ellery (pictured left) said: “I’m delighted to be joining Global Maritime at such an exciting time for the company, and for the offshore wind industry.

“We’re going to be building a very strong geoscience capability to directly address the challenges faced by fixed bottom and floating offshore wind and offshore oil and gas, globally.

“GM’s global footprint, independent outlook and complimentary expertise in areas such as naval architecture, marine operations and design makes a compelling case for the development of this new business line which I am proud to be leading.”
