An early investor into Facebook and AirBnb has led a $6m (€5.4m) investment round into Limerick-based life sciences firm Teckro.
Teckro, which develops specialist software for clinical drug trials, secured the series A funding to develop its mobile software platform.
The Irish firm uses information retrieval and machine learning technologies to improve both speed and accuracy in clinical trials.
The round, which was led by San Francisco-based Founders Fund, brings the total amount raised by the company to $7.8m
Teckro chief executive Gary Hughes said the company set out to make a difference to drug developers and research staff.
“The funding will be used to expand our product development team as we continue to digitise clinical research services.
“Fundamentally, the clinical trial landscape has changed and physicians struggle with the current method of conducting clinical trials,” the Teckro chief said.
